  1. Wow these are some awesome recommendations!

I played with a lot of these as a kid, and I found many of them helpful. I especially remember my science lab kits, like the one that you mentioned at the second spot on this list. It’s great! I think these toys are some of the best ways that kids learn, because play is when children off learn the most. It’s the perfect blend of autonomy, and educational guidance.

How do you feel about some of the online options? i used a few of these as a kid, like the Carmen SanDiego games, and found them to be really helpful. What are your thoughts on those?

  2. This was a great review of 10 science toys for kids that will be very useful for parents looking for educational toys that do more than entertain the kids. I know that I can get excited seeing these and likely the kids receiving any of these gifts will be excited too.

There are too many mindless toys out there that do not advance the critical thinking or problem-solving skills of young children and some are even harmful in my estimation. This is an area of interest for me since I have grandchildren now that can use these kinds of learning toys.

I notice that none of these toys involves a smartphone or other tablet device. I appreciate your effort to dig these up as I am concerned that too much of the kids’ activities these days revolves around the phones and tablets. Getting them off of those devices for longer periods is a win in my mind.

I’ve bookmarked the page and sent the link to my daughters who both have the young children that would enjoy these science-themed learning toys. I will likely kick in one or more for the upcoming birthdays, but my kids can also buy one or two I think right now. Thanks, this was a useful post for me, my daughters, and of course the grandchildren.

  3. Wow, these are amazing. Even if children didn’t know they were doing science, they would still have fun doing so many of these activities and experiments. I especially like the butterfly Garden, my girls would love this! The sets in this post are great because when a child engages in the experiments, it also demystifies science, and makes it fun. I also love that some of them have background information to help little ones understand what they’re doing.

    1. I also love the butterfly one. yes, When the children play with these toys, they can also learn some science concepts which can stimulate their interests! I am sure the children will enjoy playing with the toys I mentioned here.

  4. Woah, that are some great recommendations.
I have a little cousin who loves volcanoes. So I might go with №7. Hope he will like it.

  5. Hey it’s not fair the things kids can get today, I wish they had all this kind of stuff when I was a kid. We had to make do with playdough and lego:)

Great post, i bet the kids can have hours of fun with the ones you listed. Especially the disgusting science set, I want one of them.

These would be great things to keep the children occupied during the summer holidays, they have just started over here in the UK. 6 weeks to keep them amused, I am glad mine are grown up now.

    Thanks for the great info,

    1. Yes, the kids have a lot of free time now. Hope that they won’t spend too much time on Ipads, computer games. The kids nowadays are really lucky. We didn’t even have much toys when we were young. Now there are so many options and they are cheaper than many years ago. I also wish I could own these toys when I was young.

  6. Hi Fiona,

I’ve always thought that it’s a great idea to make your kids learn the smart way.
Nowadays there are tons of dull toys that give nothing intellectual to the kids.
The science toys you describe are all very entertaining. My personal favourite is the Scientific Explorer Disgusting Science Kit. Very original! 🙂

    1. For me I also like the Scientific Explorer Disgusting Science kit. It’s hilarious and can make fun of others. Kids play too much on Ipads today. These educational toys are needed to help children quit Ipads.

    2. yes, I love this one too. It’s quite entertaining and special for kids. I agree that a lot of toys are too dull. I am sure children will enjoy playing with the toys mentioned here.
